Mini dal mill machinery consist ofhorizontal tapered roller is covered with emery coating, surrounded by a screenthrough which the husk is discharged. The shelled pulses are passed through anaspirating fan on the oscillating sieve unit, where appropriate grading ofpulses is done. It is run by automatic arrangement are made for collection ofde husked and split pulses, un husked and split pulses, broken, husk inseparate containers and bags.

Basic processes in dal milling arecleaning, grading, conditioning, de husking, splitting, and separation,polishing and bagging. Major variation is involved with de husking processonly. Sometimes linseed oil is also used during dry milling operation to impartshine or better appeal to the milled dal.
